Our Focus Now: SCHOLARSHIPS
Our vision is an educated society. Our mission is to educate and train Kenyan women, children, and youth. We do this by providing resources and support.
Our primary focus is SCHOLARSHIPS for students at the secondary and post-secondary levels who need financial support.
- Sponsor a High School Student: The cost of tuition, room and board for a high school student (girl or boy) for one year is approximately $800, which is about $65 per month - or $2.20 per day.
- Sponsor a University Student: We currently support 11 university students, 3 of which are from Mji Wa Neema children’s home. The cost for university varies with the school and the major, ranging from $3,000 to $6,000 per year - which includes tuition, room and board, books, and other expenses.
We have a partner NGO in Kenya, Empower the World, who identifies deserving students and manages the scholarships. Kenya Help’s role is to raise the funds.
Students who receive scholarships must demonstrate academic promise by scoring at least 2.8 on the KCPE Exam (the comprehensive exam that all students completing 8th grade in Kenya take) and financial need as demonstrated to Empower the World. Parents (if the students have them) are responsible for uniforms, bedding, pocket money, personal needs, and a small payment on school fees.
